- When should I book my newborn photoshoot?
The best time to photograph newborns is when they are up to 10 days old.
You can book your session from the second trimester of your pregnancy, however as babies rarely arrive when we want them to, all you will need is your due date to secure your spot. Once the baby makes an appearance, please notify me and together we will decide on a suitable date for your appointment.
- What if my baby is older than 10 days?
First of all: don't panic! Sometimes we get so busy with our new little bundle of joy, that we completely loose track of time. In other scenarios you might be kept in the hospital for longer than the 10 days. It's ok! It might take a bit longer, your baby might be fully awake or we might just get more wrapped photos, however you will still leave my studio with a selection of beautiful images and wonderful memories to cherish forever.
- How long will my session last?
Depending on your chosen package, newborn sessions last between 45min up to 4 hours. It will also depend on how your little one cooperates during the shoot. Your baby will be in charge, therefore we may take regular breaks for feeding and nappy changing if needed. To help speed up the process, I recommend not to feed your baby for about 1-2 hours (if possible) followed by a full feed just before you are due to leave for your appointment. There will be an opportunity for a top-up feed just before we start as well.
- Do I need to bring anything with me?
All the outfits, props and decorations will be provided, therefore all you will need is:
- Enough milk and nappies to last you for up to 4 hours (there is a bottle warmer and a changing station for you to use in my studio)
- Pacifier (if you use one)
- If you wish, you could bring a small token to incorporate in the photos such as: family heirloom or personalised item with baby's name etc.
- What should we wear?
To help your little one sleep, the studio will be fairly warm when you arrive. I recommend wearing something that you will feel comfortable in and not to have too many layers.
If your package includes family photos, it's a great idea to have matching outfits. You can't go wrong with dark pants and white top, but at the end of the day it is entirely up to you what you choose. Try to avoid large texts on clothes or bold patterns as when looking at the photo, they divert your attention from what's important - you and your family!
- I never had a professional photoshoot, is that ok? What can I expect on the day?
Majority of my clients have never experienced being in a photo studio prior to their appointment. To me, it makes no difference if this will be your first or your hundredth time - I treat everyone equally. I will ensure you feel comfortable and confident posing and I will help you every step of the way.
When you arrive for your newborn photoshoot, we will start with a small introduction. I will ask you few questions about your little one that will help me determine the flow of our session. I will also explain in more depth what we're going to do and you will get a chance to ask any questions that you may have. Depending on your chosen package, I will pose your baby on a specialised baby posing table or little props (e.g. basket, bed etc.) or both, with family photographs being taken at the end. The order of this may vary depending on how your little one behaves. If needed, we will take regular feeding and nappy changing breaks.
At the end of your session I will advise you on what will happen next and when you can expect to receive your images.
- Will I be able to get more photos that what's in my chosen package?
Yes! During your shoot I will take more images than what is in you package. After your appointment you will receive a link to your folder containing all the photos I have taken on the day. You will then be able to choose which ones you like and you will get an opportunity to purchase additional photos, prints and other products if you wish.
After you make your selection, the photos will be professionally edited and any imperfections will be removed where needed. (If you have any editing requests such as removing visible scratches/bruises etc., you will be able to notify me at the time)
Depending on your chosen package, you will receive your final photographs via link where you can download your copies or on a personalised memory stick that will be posted to your chosen delivery address. Any prints and other products will be delivered to you as well for your convenience.
